Luquillo History
Luquillo
is a beach town on the Northeast coast of Puerto Rico
Luquillos' greatest
assets are its' varied, beautiful beaches and its' easy access to San Juan
and the rainforest. Balneario Luquillo "La monserate" is a calm crescent shaped beach lined
with coconut trees. Playa Azul beach has a small
surf. The 'point' is protected and offers good snorkeling (sometimes in the
winter there is too much current but that's rare) and 'La Pared' offers good
surfing waves. (Medium range). La Selva surfers
beach is just east of Luquillo.
Within one block of the
Luquillo
Plaza is 'La Pared' a
surfing beach. One block the other way will take you to the 'La Selva Surf Shop' There are many places to eat in
Luquillo. Since Luquillo is a 'resort' town for locals as well, there are
many short term apartment rentals. The famous Balneario
Luquillo is a few blocks from this plaza. Balneario
Luquillo ( public beach) is probably the most famous beach in Puerto Rico, certainly the most
visited by tourism. Located about 15 miles or 45 minutes east of
San Juan and close to the
entrance to the El Yunque rainforest. There are
many activities and places to visit in Luquillo like El Flamboyan,
The Brass Cactus, King Sea Food, Pizza 2000 and many more.
